From Akwesasne to New York City: When My Story Became Part of a Play

Have you ever experienced something that made you stop and think, "Is this really happening?"

That's exactly how I felt sitting in the audience for The Two Worlds Project, a documentary theatre production exploring the differences between rural Northern New York and New York City.

As the stories unfolded, I realized something incredible.Part of my own journey had helped inspire one of them. It was surreal to hear experiences that echoed my path from Akwesasne to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Years ago, I shared that story without ever imagining it might one day find its way onto a stage.

Watching the performance reminded me that our stories can travel farther than we ever expect. The moments that shape us don't just stay with us. They can create connection, spark conversations, and even inspire art in forms we never imagined.

I'm grateful to playwright and director Ryan Howland and everyone involved in The Two Worlds Project for creating space for these conversations. It was an honor to witness a production that reminds us how powerful lived experiences can be.

As an artist, I often tell stories through paint, texture, and collage. That evening reminded me that storytelling has many forms, but the goal is often the same: helping people feel seen and helping others understand a life different from their own.

Thank you for being part of my journey. I'm looking forward to sharing more stories, more artwork, and more of the experiences that continue to shape my creative path.
