Shé:kon Sewakwé:kon, Rawkstars?!
How are you, Rawkstars?!
I'm Kit Thomas (they/she), a Two-Spirit Kanien’kehá (Mohawk) artist, speaker, and community advocate. from Akwesasne Mohawk Territory, Wolf Clan.
I make art, tell stories, ask questions, and occasionally confuse myself by taking on too many projects at once.
My work ranges from painting and mixed media to digital art, workshops, public speaking, zines, and whatever creative idea decides to show up next. A lot of people know me for my bingo card artwork, turning a familiar piece of community life into something colourful, personal, and a little unexpected.
As a Two-Spirit artist, my work explores identity, community, mental health, culture, and what it means to find balance in a world that doesn't always make room for everyone. I care about creating work that starts conversations, challenges assumptions, and helps people feel seen.
Outside the studio, I perform as drag king Hunter Down, because apparently making art wasn't enough of a hobby.
I create art to connect people and stories.
Thanks for stopping by. Everyone is welcome.
Niá:wen - Thank you
-Kit

Recently had the privilege of seeing one of Kit Thomas' pieces, Dreamscape, in an exhibit in upstate NY. My partner and I were so moved, we took in the subjects' expressions for quite a while, tears streaming down our faces. I've never felt so connected with a piece before. It's been a delight to get to connect with Kit, who is a powerful community leader as well as a spectacular artist. Excited to continue following their work going forward
